I am very excited to be a part of the team at Move Forward! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).I received a Master’s in Counseling from Messiah University (formerly Messiah College) in 2018, with an emphasis on school Counseling and Mental Health.I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC).During the day, I work as a School Counselor in alternative education.
I have worked with children in the school setting since 2013. I also spent several years as a Behavior Support Specialist for adults with Dual Diagnoses. My experience in the field of mental health has taken me on quite a journey. I have worked with children who are behaviorally and intellectually challenged. I have also worked with adults with intellectual disabilities suffering from various mental health concerns and trauma.
I am trained to perform sexuality assessments for those with an intellectual disability and have spent a good portion of my time educating adults on “what makes a healthy relationship” and how to navigate through the day-to-day life in a relationship.
My passion is to help others.I don’t pretend to have all the answers because, quite honestly, none of us do! I have learned much from working with various individuals over the past years. I always preach to my students and clients, “it’s ok not to be ok.”We are often afraid to admit that we are struggling or need a little help.My role is to be that help! Life is something that you can’t do alone…no matter how much you think you can!
My approach to clients varies, depending on the area of concern. I tend to use a lot of cognitive behavior therapy. Yet, at times, a solution focus seems to be the best approachI have experience working with anxiety, depression, anger, behavioral issues, and trauma.I feel that every person has a story that needs to be told.
I firmly believe that we hold the key to our happiness, and sometimes it takes a few tries to unlock that happiness. No matter what, life can be complex and full of surprises. I am here to help guide and navigate you while working on things you might need a little help with.
I am married and a mom of three! In my “free” time, you will often find me at the soccer field or the barn with my daughter.I also have two dogs, Bella and Roxy! They are pretty large and take me for a walk! I am getting ready to send my oldest to college next year! Life flies by so fast! One thing that I do understand is how overwhelming things can be and how important it is to take care of YOU!
I hope we have the opportunity to work together!
