Hi Folx! Katie here!
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I provide an environment that supports you and your brave exploration of yourself. Change and healing are two of the most difficult things a person can do. I strive to be the type of therapist that provides the space to let you do this in the most supportive and validating way possible, without pulling punches. I believe the relationship between a therapist and client is one of the most important parts of fostering that change and healing process.
My approach is intersectionality with my interventions of choice being: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Change Therapy (ACT), Feminist Theory, and Anti-Diet. I am passionate about working with folx struggling with depression and anxiety, identity and coming out support, body image issues/ body positivity/ anti-diet/ intuitive eating, and borderline personality disorder. I provide a welcoming space to LGBTQIA folx, People of Color, and fat folx.
A little about me: I received my Bachelor of Social Work from Temple University and my Master of Social Work from Widener University. I am a certified Body Project facilitator: unpacking the “appearance ideal” to adolescents and young adults in hopes to decrease the probability of eating disorders. I have worked in various levels of care including, adolescent residential, triage, and day hospital settings. While not in the office, you can find me watching The Office for the nine hundredth time, baking and eating chocolate cake, exploring the amazing ways my body can move, and smashing the patriarchy.
