I am very excited to be a part of the team at Move Forward! I am currently under supervision to receive my license as a professional counselor (LPC). I received a Master’s in Counseling from Messiah University (formerly Messiah College) in 2018, with an emphasis in School Counseling and Mental Health. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). In the day time I work as a School Counselor in alternative education.
I have worked with children in the school setting since 2013. I also spent several years as a Behavior Support Specialist for adults with Dual Diagnoses. My experience in the field of mental health has taken me on quite a journey. I have worked with children who are behaviorally and intellectually challenged. I have also worked with adults with an intellectual disability and suffering from various mental health concerns and trauma. I am trained to perform sexuality assessments for those with an intellectual disability and have spent a good portion of my time educating adults on “what makes a healthy relationship” and how to navigate through the day to day life in a relationship.
My passion is to help others. I don’t pretend to have all of the answers, because quite honestly, none of us do! I have learned a lot over the past years in my work with various individuals. One thing that I always preach to my students and clients is this: “it’s ok not to be ok.” I think that often, we are afraid to admit that we are struggling or just need a little help. My role is simply to be that help! Life is something that you just can’t do alone…no matter how much you think you can!
My approach with clients varies, depending on the area of concern. I tend to use a lot of cognitive behavioral, yet at times, solution focused seems to be the best approach. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, anger, behavioral issues, and trauma. I feel that every person has a story that needs to be told. I am a firm believer that we hold the key to our own happiness and sometimes it takes a few tries to unlock that happiness. No matter what, life can be hard and full of surprises. I am here to help guide and navigate you through, while working on things you might need a little help with.
I am married and a mom of three! In my “free” time, you will often find me at the soccer field or at the barn with my daughter. I also have two dogs, Bella and Roxy! They are quite large and take me for a walk! I am getting ready to send my oldest to college next year! Life flies by so fast! One thing that I do understand is how overwhelming things can be and how important it is to take care of YOU!
I hope we have the opportunity to work together!
