Ellie Herman, LCSW (she/her)

Hi! I’m Ellie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

Deciding to talk to a therapist can be nerve-wracking. I want clients to feel empowered by the decision to learn about themselves, gain insight into their needs, and rewrite the stories they tell themselves. I believe each chapter of your story is important, and so are the shelves on which the storybook has been. Together, we can create new dialogues, foster self-compassion, generate new health-promoting patterns, and recognize the strengths you already have.

Changing your narrative begins with telling your story. I use a client-centered approach to create a warm, inviting session while assisting clients in identifying their views, concerns, and validating their needs. In therapy, we will work together to discover how your thoughts are influencing your behaviors and how the stories we tell ourselves can be quite damaging. I employ a variety of theoretical tools, borrowing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Feminist Theory, and Systems Theory. As a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, I am equipped and ready to begin healing clients’ relationships with food and their bodies. My approach is rooted in the Health At Every Size paradigm and is size-inclusive, weight-neutral, and anti-diet; we will work together to dismantle diet culture and heal its damage.

I can help clients of all genders who are ages 14 and up seeking therapy for life transitions, eating concerns, body image work, depression, anxiety, women’s issues, and relationship concerns.

In my free time I enjoy reading, buying books, baking, resisting the urge to water my succulent, listening to podcasts, time with my family, journaling, watching Gilmore Girls on repeat, looking at pictures of Camaros, and running. My graduate degree is from Marywood University and I’ve worked in the mental health field for several years.

The more we talk about mental health, the more we smash the stigma of seeking help. I’m here to talk (and listen).
